Bye Bye Mosby House

Its been forever since I have posted anything to my blog, but I'm going to try to get better at blogging.  I'm not sure if I can ever catch up, but I can start from where we are currently right?  And then someday, maybe go back in and fill in the holes.

We are moving!  We are extremely excited.  For a long while we felt really sad about leaving our house at 3006 Mosby mostly because of all that this house has represented to our little family, but we are definitely bursting at the seams and have been for awhile.  When Ruben's mom passed away in April, Ruben's dad came to stay with us and the walls of this 1,503 sq. ft. home started to feel like they were closing in on us.  We called some of our friends from church, one that works for a mortgage company, HomeUSA, and his brother, a realtor with ReMax Southwest and started a huge list of all that we needed to do in order to move.  We made a goal to get the house on the market by the Monday, May 14 and ended up getting it on the market the following Tuesday, May 22.  That first week that the house was on the market was amazing.  We had so many showings!  It was just crazy.  Our poor babysitter.  She basically just came in the morning and packed a bag for the kids while they were out during the day, because we never knew if we had a showing or not until sometimes right before.  Ruben's dad was here during all of that as well, so he had to be on the streets as well.  We worked really hard to keep the house clean and I literally turned into a crazy person and I was totally highstrung...Three kids, my father-in-law, end of the school year, house showings like crazy, keeping the house as immaculate as possible... I will just say that we are happy that time is over.

We had a deal the very next day, a cash offer, but it fell through when we asked to lease back the house in order to allow us to close on another house.  Another deal came around a little over a week later, but the buyers sent out a psycho inspector had a crazy report that scared off this potential buyer.  We feel like in the end they just wanted us to lower our price.  We didn't want to work with them after we got their crazy list of home improvement requests:  changing out toilets (perfectly working), installing a garage door opener for one of our garage doors that never had one in the first place, just crazy stuff, replace the back door to the house, replace the back gate... to name a few... We were frustrated because we had done a lot of things to the house to help it sell faster and show better.  We replaced the carpets throughout the house, we put 2" faux blinds on all the windows that didn't have them in the living areas and master.  We repainted in the living areas.  We power washed all exterior of the house, driveway, and sidewalks.  Towards the end of the 2nd buyer's option period, our sweet chinese neighbors met me with excitement one morning on my way to work as I was leaving for work.  They had a friend visiting for dinner the night before who is an investor and he wanted to buy our house... We set up a time for him to come see the house that evening and we just waited for the 2nd offer to fall through before we accepted the 3rd offer, which happened to be another cash offer.  We closed on Tuesday, June 26... So the house is sold!  We are currently leasing the house back as we pack and wait for our financing to get work out before we can close on the new house.

I'm sure I'll have more to say about the new house, but I will just say that we are very excited.  In the end, we decided that it was very important to stay in the same ward.  We will share more about the new house when the deal is sealed.
