At the pool with friends

Sharing is caring. Kasiana giving apples to her friend, Jace.
Kasiana loves to share her food with her family and friends.
Waiting for the rain to stop. We make it a habit to go to the pool as often as we can.
The only problem is that it rains a lot in Houston in June.

Hangin' out with my friend Jace.
We try to go to the pool as much as we can. At least once a week Kasiana meets her friends at the pool for Mom's & Tots. Our favorite pool is just for babies and toddlers. Kasiana loves to walk the whole pool (it is no deeper than 2 ft.) On her first trip, she went down the slide. Jace's mom, Allie, was at the top and I was at the bottom to catch her. This child has no fears. We start Mom & Tot Swim lessons at our neighborhood pool this week. It should be fun.

Father's Day

It makes such a difference being close to family, especially around the holidays, whether it be Christmas, Halloween, or Father's Day. Although we do miss our friends and lives out in Utah. Someday, we hope to get back. Life moves so quickly here, that we have to constantly remind ourselves to slow down and enjoy the simple things. We do enjoy being able to see our families often, and we know that our family is enjoying having us close too. For Father's Day we went over and had Barbeque (real barbeque-- not just a grilling in the backyard)... with my parents, and then the following day, Ruben took his dad out to lunch to one of our favorite hamburgers spots. Ruben loves it, because they serve a mean, deluxe burger that can barely be finished. In a couple of weeks we will be going up to Oklahoma to see Grandpa, Grandma, Great Grandma, Aunt Jan, and Uncle Steve. We're getting really excited for the trip. This will be the first time we've been there since Kasiana was just two weeks old. It's hard to believe that it has been well over a year since Nannaw passed away. The trip will definitely be different without our Nannaw and Pa. I'm glad that we have other family there that we can enjoy, and that Kasiana and Ruben will be going as well. Not a day goes by that we don't miss our Nannaw and Pa. We feel sad that Kasiana never got to know them, but we want to make sure that she gets to know the rest of her family.

Sugar Land's Cutest Baby

Don't worry... we're not on our way to being Jean Binet... but after several people asked us if we had put our baby in the contest... we thought, why not? Sugar Land's Cutest Baby Contest was held in May, and we received a phone call a couple week's later to tell us that Kasiana was named one of the finalists out of 135 babies in her age group. There were about 300 babies of all ages in the contest.

An awards ceremony was held earlier in June, and Kasiana had a ball. All she wanted to do was push her puppy around in the stroller. Her learning puppy has got to be her favorite toy right now.

The event finally started, and Kasiana got third place...
but to us... she'll always be #1!
A Proud Papi.

A Proud Kasiana.

Our 4th Wedding Anniversary

Can you believe that we've been married four years already? From high school sweethearts to finding each other while I was in Spain...we've enjoyed a lot together, and we couldn't have even imagined what the addition of our sweet baby girl has done to our lives. Our first several anniversaries we took trips, stayed in hotels, etc. Now, we're happy to just go out to a movie... we haven't figured out how to do dinner and a movie yet. We're just learning how to date with a baby at home. Regardless of the short celebration, we had a special time - and we even went to see a chick flick... Maybe one day we'll get back to scuba diving, and taking trips... for now our greatest gift of love that we can give each other is our baby girl, Kasiana. At the bottom of this page is a slide show of some of the highlights in our marriage. I couldn't figure out how to put it right after this.
